Applying to University

Applying to American Colleges

Whether you are applying for a 13th year of study in a British School or spending a year as a Gap Fellow, you should make applications to American colleges in the normal way during your senior year. Ideally, you will be accepted by the college of your choice and simply defer your enrollment for one year.

You may, however, submit new applications to American colleges from Britain. In the past, many students have found their credentials considerably improved by their work in Britain and have achieved desirable new acceptances.

Gaining Admittance to University in Britain

By spending a year at a British school, you are able to apply to a British university on a more equal footing with your British peers. Since these universities usually involve a 3-year course of study, with the cost of tuition considerably less than that charged by most U.S. colleges, your BAEF experience may be a profitable stepping-stone if you are interested in attending a British university.

Among the traits most prized by admissions officers are solid academic training, maturity, and a willingness to face new challenges. One of the best ways for an applicant to demonstrate these highly valued qualities is by enrolling in the BAEF program. We know the development of mind and personality which is encouraged by a year's study in Britain, and that experience truly helps a candidate to stand out in our competitions.
