Applying to American Colleges
If you are applying for the 13th year, you should make applications to American colleges in the normal way during your senior year. Ideally, you will be accepted by the college of your choice and simply defer your enrollment for one year.

You may, however, submit new applications to American colleges from England. In the past, many students have found their credentials considerably improved by their work in England and have achieved desirable new acceptances.

Gaining Admittance to University in Britain
Americans may find it very difficult to gain admittance to British universities directly from high school. By spending a year at a British school, you are able to apply on a more equal footing with your British peers. Since university in England usually involves a 3-year course of study, with the cost of tuition considerably less than that charged by most U.S. colleges, a year at school in England may be a profitable stepping-stone if you are interested in attending university in Britain.
